Quilts & Artistic Principles

When many people think of quilts, they envision:
- a blanket or something made by their grandmothers
- something crafty involving little cut up pieces of fabric

Well, I am here to tell you, quilt art is more!

Like any piece of art, it is a communication of color, a composition of line, an exploration of value and contrast, placement of shape and form, achievement of balance, symmetrically or asymmetrically, an expression of theme, and most importantly, texture!

Think about these principles as you view these quilts:
